We are looking for a Director, Design to build and lead the architecture capability within a global delivery organisation in Bengaluru. Reporting to the Vice President, Design Delivery, this leader will build and scale a multidisciplinary architectural and engineering team delivering design development, technical documentation, calculations, specifications, and constructability-driven detailing, growing over time into a 100-plus person organisation that works as a seamless extension of US-based design leadership.

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the senior technical authority for architectural design, documentation, and constructability practices.

  • Establish and govern design documentation standards, detailing protocols, drawing set organisation, and QA/QC systems aligned with US expectations.

  • Oversee development of coordinated architectural drawing packages through all design phases, including construction documents.

  • Lead governance of architectural modelling, detailing, annotation, and specification standards.

  • Ensure architectural outputs reflect design intent, constructability, and interdisciplinary coordination.

Production Excellence & Workflow

  • Direct daily architectural production across design development and construction documentation workflows.

  • Standardise workflows to drive interoperability with US-based design counterparts, with a focus on predictability, scalability, and reduced rework.

  • Implement structured quality control checkpoints for documentation accuracy, consistency, and constructability alignment.

  • Drive continuous improvement through KPI-based performance management focused on accuracy, timeliness, and rework reduction.

  • Deliver high-quality work to agreed schedules and budgets, using the design ERP solution to manage team performance.

Technology & Process

  • Evaluate and implement digital design tools, documentation automation, and AI-assisted design enhancements.

  • Partner with design technology, digital delivery, and AI teams to refine model-based documentation processes.

  • Improve documentation efficiency, reduce revision cycles, and enhance first-pass quality.

  • Ensure workflows align with Revit standards, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and related enterprise systems.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing architecture team.

  • Build deep technical capability across architectural detailing, systems coordination, and documentation rigour.

  • Establish training frameworks, competency benchmarks, and career progression models with the architectural services lead.

  • Act as the primary India-based architectural counterpart to US design leadership, enabling cross-time-zone collaboration and documentation continuity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Architecture.

  • 10 or more years of experience in architecture, with strong emphasis on technical documentation and complex project delivery.

  • Demonstrated leadership of large architectural or engineering production teams, preferably in global or distributed delivery environments.

  • Deep expertise in US construction documentation standards, detailing practices, and coordinated drawing production.

  • Deep understanding of building systems, constructability, sequencing, and multidisciplinary coordination.

  • Experience building or scaling design teams, including defining standards, hiring, and developing technical training programmes.

  • Strong operational discipline, with experience managing productive teams against project schedules and fixed budgets.

  • Experience using ERP solutions to drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and architectural documentation workflows, with familiarity in model-based documentation and digital design environments.

  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.

  • Entrepreneurial, hands-on leader who thrives in ambiguity, builds processes from scratch, and drives rapid scaling.

Working Conditions

This is an onsite, office-based role in a quiet to moderate noise environment, involving extended periods of seated work at a computer, along with regular standing, walking, and close and distance vision requirements.
